OCP Workshop 09/13/2012

Present:  Philip, Heather, Charles Harrelson, Sadie, Alex, Erin Bean, Chris Geil, Daniel Brumbaugh-Keeney, Mike Campbell, Mike Farrand, Gary Falls, and John Powell.
Philip:  for those new to the workshop process, gives recap of decisions made over the past 3 weeks by the voting group, including when we should meet, what to pursue next, etc, and a rundown of the significant deliverables.  Question for people new to the group, what do you think of developing a membership at OCP?
Alex:  It makes me think of Costco.
Daniel:  Cool, sounds like we can own this place!
Charles H: privileges and responsibilities
Alex:  membership sounds weird, but "community member" sounds good.
Mike F.:  Yeah, we are already members when we walk in...  Can we maintain inclusivity and the nature of OCP?
Sadie:  We can't call them clients here.
Alex:  Why membership (what is it for?)?
Philip:  to own the OCP, create it, develop programming.
Sadie:  people who are originals here feel like nothing ever gets done.
Mike F:  Now we are focused on membership and we ARE moving.
Sadie:  I like "Friends of OCP."
Chris:  not against membership, but I don't like the term.  Just like I like having an executive director of OCP, but not the name.  It reminds me of the world I came out of and didn't like.
Mike F.:  I think 80% of our group is against that term.
Daniel:  The whole workshop idea is interesting to be, but I don't like the procedural stuff.  Lately I've lost touch with what OCP is about and I want to hear what we ARE about.
Sadie:  Daniel and Chris, why don't you all come around as much as you used to?
Chris:  I haven't felt connected, but am not sure what connections I will have in the future.  I can't commit to anything more right now.  I decided at some point that life didn't have to be all about OCP.  I like more small groups and one-on-one settings for ministry.
Daniel:  for me its mostly about the new schedule, hard to make it when OCP's open, so I've lost touch with OCP's vision.  Seems like maybe after Ron's workaholism, he and the OCP lost the dreamy-eyedness, lost a sense of wonderment that this miracle is happening around us.
